Snow Days!

Hannah and I went sledding today. She liked to go down the hill, but fussed on the way up the hill. It was really fun, and Hannah was so cute!

Hello everyone, I hope that you are having a great week. Ours has been good so far. I survived the craziness of my work schedule last week, and am looking forward to getting settled into our "routine" for this semester. Hannah did well last week, and I kind of think that mommy missed her more than she missed me. She got to spend two days with daddy, one day with aunt Krissy, part of a day with grandma Hershberger and a day with grandma Hollingsworth. Which I know was lots of fun for her :) Thank you to everyone who helped us with babysitting...we are really blessed to have such a great family on both sides, and to have them all so close.

Speaking of Hannah, lately, as in the past week or so, she has started throwing major fits when she doesn't get her way. I am sure that most of it is simply her age, and testing her boundaries, but it is like she goes from smiling and happy toddler to high pitched screaming in 2 seconds. Right now, when she does this, I get down and look her in the eye and say very firmly, Hannah we do not scream when we don't get our way. Then she gets a light smack on the hand. If she continues screaming, I just ignore her (I always check to make sure she isn't hurt first), because I don't want her think that she will get her way by throwing a fit. Sometimes she calms down really quickly and other times she just continues to scream. AHHHHHHH!!! I'm not sure if I am handling this right, so if anyone has any suggestions, leave me a comment with your briliant thoughts. Thanks :)

Other than that, things have been really good for us. We are taking a Dave Ramsey financial class at church, and I really like it. One of the big points that he has made so far is that if you don't tell your money what to do, then it just goes away and you don't know what happened to it. How true is that?! Nick and I are going to start using the envelope system for our monthly groceries, and for our eating out money. I am excited to start doing this and see where it leads us.

I will leave you with a blog that I have been following www.cfhusband.blogspot.com. It is definitely worth looking at if you have the time. Please keep this family in your prayers, as they are going to need them in the coming weeks and months. Have a wonderful and blessed week!

Yes, these pictures are from today...

Can you believe that in the middle of January it was warm enough for Hannah and I to go to the park and play, and neither of us was wearing a coat? What a beautiful day. I have to confess, I really needed a day like today. Starting with Friday of last week, I have been really really frustrated with my job. Its a long story, and basically what happened was that there was some serious mis-communication between Malone and the hospital that I will be doing clinicals at, and I ended up paying the price for it. I have managed to get everything rearranged to accommodate everyones schedules and get all the things done that I need to do, so that is good. Thank you Nick for being a stay-at-home dad tomorrow and taking care of Hannah!!! I will just be really glad when this week is over and things will get back into a somewhat "normal" schedule. Although I have to wonder sometimes if our lives are really ever all that normal...just a thought :)

Well enough blogging about the things that make me grumpy, and onto why today was such a great day. The day started of wonderfully...Hannah slept in until 8:00 which meant I got to sleep until 7:30. That was fabulous. Hannah had a really good morning, and went down like a champ for her morning nap. She then slept from 10:00 until 12:15. Which was also quite fabulous. :) While she was napping I got all of my house work completed (I ran the vacuum before she went down), and got a shower and even fixed my hair. After she got up and we ate lunch, we ran a couple of errands, and then went to the park to play. We had so much fun swinging and going down the slide. Hannah loves going down the big slide while sitting on my lap. She laughs the whole way down. Just hearing my daughter laugh and squeal with joy and excitement was exactly what I needed. Even though some days she can try my patience to the point of exasperation, her uninhibited laughter can make me forget all the frustrating things, and put a huge smile on my face. Thank you Jesus, for using my precious little girl to remind me what is really important!!

I hope that everyone has a wonderful week! Enjoy the pics!

Happy New Year!!

Happy New Year everyone!! Can you believe that it is 2008 already?! I cannot believe how quickly the past year has gone. So many things happened including Hannah's first birthday, Hannah learning to walk, Hannah saying her first words...my little baby is now a little girl!! I can't believe how quickly she is growing up. Gone are the days of the snugly little baby who slept most of the time. Now she has a personality and opinions all her own. I have been praying that God will help me as I try and figure out how to best teach her and discipline her and raise her to be a good Christian woman. It is a little scary to think about!! I am so glad that I have Nick as Hannah's dad, to help me with the parenting process, and hopefully I can help him too. Here are some pictures from New years. I hope that everyone has a blessed start to the New Year!

Christmas!!

Merry Christmas...a little late. :) We had a wonderful Christmas this year spending time with family and friends. I had so much fan watching Hannah, she really likes all her new toys. She had fun with the wrapping paper, and even opened some of her own presents. I definitely think Christmas is more fun when you have kids. The anticipation of their excitement is so fun!! I think God for giving me such a wonderful husband and daughter, and for teaching me about real love this Christmas Season. May God Bless You All!!

Pigtails!!

Mommy had fun playing with Hannah's hair this morning. She was not a big fan of the pigtails, and pulled them out pretty quickly, but I did manage to get a couple of cute pictures first. :)

Women Drivers...

Do you like the title of my post? Well let me explain a little...you see I think that I may have done my part in the past week or so , to contribute to the idea that women are bed drivers. Let me say for the record that I do not think that women are bad drivers, and that prior to the events of the past week and a half, I had never even had a speeding ticket. As I mentioned in a previous post, I hit a deer with our Toyota about two weeks ago. This put us down to one car, but have done the one car thing for awhile in the past, and it really isn't too bad. Well, yesterday on my way home from babysitting, I was on 39 coming towards Shanesville and was involved in a bit of an accident. What happened was that a truck that was two cars in front of me hit their brakes, and then the Trailblazer directly in front of me hit its brakes, and then I hit my brakes. The Trailblazer narrowly missed hitting the truck, but I did not get stopped fast enough and rear ended the Trailblazer. I really didn't even hit their car very hard at all, and there was no damage to the Trailblazer, but they had a trailer hitch on the back of the car which banged up the bumper, the headlight on the drivers side, and the hood. All of the really important car parts are fine, the engine etc. but now we are left with no car. The whole situation is just REALLY FRUSTRATING!!!!!!!!! I feel like a gigantic idiot, even though I know deep down inside that for the most part, both situations were out of my control. (Anyone who knows me very well knows that I don't like not being in control.:)) Perhaps God is trying to teach me something here....:) Nick and I are both trying to leave the vehicle situation in Gods hands, and trust that he will work things out for the best, as he always does. If you could please pray for us to have wisdom to know how to best handle this whole situation, that would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!!!

On a side note, we did find out today that the Camry is most definitely totaled. The insurance people called Nick at work today, and said that there was over $10,000 dollars worth of damage to the car. I guess that deer was not messing around :)

Below are some pictures from the past couple of days. Hannah was kind of grumpy and fussy today, she started with a runny nose and a low grade fever. I am hoping that it is just teeth, and that she will be better by Christmas. Have a great week everyone!!Hannah loves to brush her teeth...well, actually she loves to suck the toothpaste off her toothbrush after Mommy has brushed her teeth. :)
We went for a walk today, since it was pretty nice out. This was the first time that Hannah was in her snow suit, and as you can see, she was NOT impressed :)

She just started doing this in the tub...with as much as she loves being in the water, I wonder sometimes if I actually gave birth to a fish.
Crazy hair...she woke up with this goofy "mohawk".

Pictures!!

Well, we got the camera back. Here are some fun pictures from the past week or so. There are a lot of pictures, so be prepared.Hannah and Caedon in the tub together. This ended up being a very handy thing when I was babysitting last week. I think I will definitely save this one for when they are older :)
Playing in the tub!!
One of my friends from Malone got me a tin with Heggy's chocolates in it as a Christmas gift. I put the tin out because I really didn't think that Hannah could get the wrapper off the candy. I was quite wrong... She stuffed such a big piece of candy into her mouth that she couldn't chew it (I ended up digging it out of her mouth) and she was drooling chocolate everywhere. If you look at her PJ's you can see some of the drool, and it was all over the carpet too. Oh the joys of being a mommy ;)
More chocolate drool!!
Hannah was really grumpy this morning...and she is almost never grumpy when she is in the tub. I think that she put her PJ's in the tub just to be a stinker!!!

We are still alive!!

Hello everyone! I promise that I have a good reason for not posting. Nick left the camera at a friends house, and since I normally post pictures, I haven't gotten around to blogging. Things have been interesting here at the Hershberger home. Hannah had her 15 month check up at the doctor yesterday. According to our pediatrician, she is perfect. And I have to say, I couldn't agree more :) The pediatrician was pretty impressed with how clearly she is talking and with the number of words that she says. That made me feel really good, because what parent doesn't like to hear that their kid is doing great! At this check up Hannah weighed in at 20 pounds, one ounce (Yeah!!! we made over the 20 pound mark) and she is 30 inches long.
Aside from the good news we got at Hannah's appt., things have been pretty interesting at our house. Over the weekend, Hannah, myself and my cousins Krista and Megan, were driving home from Canton, and when we were on 77 just a little north of Bolivar, a rather large deer jumped out in front of us. It was truly the scariest thing I have ever experienced. That feeling of having no control over the car was terrifying. Needles to say, we hit the deer, that hit the guard rail, then bounced back onto the highway before coming to a stop on the side of the road. Everyone was ok (thank you Jesus for seat belts and carseats) but our car is pretty banged up. We are waiting to get the official word from our insurance company, but the police officer seemed pretty sure that it was totaled. But the most important thing is that we are all ok...cars are replaceable, but people are not. I know that God was watching over us, because it really it amazing that we didn't hit another car. Thank you Jesus!!!
Well, Hannah is laying on the floor here in the office, and it is time for her morning nap, so I think I will go put the little miss down for her nappy time. Have a great week everyone, and I ill post pictures as soon as we get the camera back.

She's walking!!!

Thats right folks...Hannah is walking. :) She figured it out on Friday, and has gotten progressively more steady as the weekend has progressed. I video taped for your enjoyment. I couldn't get a decent video of her from the front, so this is a back view. Enjoy!!

Cookies!!

Hannah's buddies Paige and Mia came over last week and helped to make Christmas cookies. It was a ton of fun. Here are some pictures of the girls and the festivities.
